Cimarron Boulder CourseClassic Club
Wow. Loved it. I've been to Palm Springs a number of
times and never played a course that was so different. The
clubhouse is enormous and beautiful and I can't figure out how
they got all those pines trees out there. Not your typical
desert course. In fact, if you didn't know better you'd think
you were in No. Cal or Colorado.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. And that's just the clubhouse! You definitely don't feel like you are in Palm Springs. Sally J., Arlington, TX Desert Dunes Golf Club
I'm writing about Desert Dunes. Was way better than expected. I don't know why their rates aren't higher, but I'm not complaining! Thanks for hooking me up. I played there twice on my trip.
This is a highly recommended golf experience! The
front side begins with some wide fairways featuring generous
landing areas, but the course tightens up beginning with the
ninth hole. The vegetation that borders both sides of many
fairways is extremely dense, creating the need for accurate tee
shots. A plethora of sand bunkers are situated near the landing
areas off the tee or green side, and water comes into play on
four holes, including the last three on the front side. The back
side is extremely fun to play, with elevation changes and
crystal clear ponds and creeks providing aesthetics and
challenge. Holes ten, eleven and twelve demand extremely
accurate tee shots to narrow bush lined fairways. Overall, it
was a great course & a great value. This turned out to be one of the best golf courses we
played (we hit 9 over two weeks) and it was easily the best
value. This is a links course and they take great care of it.
The greens are fast and the course itself is in great shape. Desert Willow Firecliff
A buddy told me that this course was voted #1 so I figured I had to play it while in the area. Overall, this was an excellent desert golf course and I thoroughly enjoyed my round. Great service, spectacular scenery, and excellent maintenance. If you're looking to play a true desert course, with holes surrounded by sand and cactus, then this is a must play! Firecliff was the best course I played in Palm Springs. Thanks for
the recommendation! Only course I've played where 1-the carts tell you how "far" your hit your drive (distance from the tee box) and 2-has "pop up" sand racks (I'm assuming so you don't burn your hands from the hot sun baking the racks?). Loved it. Damon A., Chula Vista, CA Desert Willow Mountain View
I heard Firecliff was the best course, but I played
both and enjoyed Mtn. View best (at least I lost less balls!).
The scenery is great on both. I noticed the course on the other
side of the gate that goes along the road, but once I was
inside the gates, you'd never know you are in a city as it's
so peaceful and tranquil. I'll be sure to call you again on my
next visit to the desert. Just know that I liked Mt. View
better...thx again Indian Palms
Indian Palms is a nice track (tree lined terrain
w/beautiful desert mt vistas). We played all 27 holes. The 3
nines wind through a resid. community a nice mix of tight & open
fairways that lead to mildly undulating green complexes, most
being guarded by bunkers on either side.
One of the best values in PS area; very fair & challenging.
Indian Wells Golf ResortLa Quinta Resort and Club - Dunes Course
Hey, this course gets a bad rap. Not sure why...Only played one round while in town, but thought the Dunes course was really fun. Also, not as hard as most Dye courses. I've had some terrible "Dye" experiences and I really have to say this was my favorite one. Next time I'll play the Mtn course. Thx... Jason W., Paterson, NJ Gentlemen, thanks again for hooking everything up for me and the guys. I think I spoke to about 3-4 of you at different points and you were all great! We played all 5 courses so if you don't mind I'll give you one review for all 5. We booked the Best of the West or Golf Spectacular through Showtime Golf and it all really couldn't have gone any smoother. Weather was just perfect too; high 80s to low 90' each day. The 4 of us started w/ La Quinta Dunes on day one to get all the rust off. Didn't play great, but really liked the course. At the time I was thinking I was really in trouble if this was the easiest of all 5. Well manicured too. The next day we played Norman. Ouch! I wasn't hitting my drives straight and that right there cost me about 10 strokes. The elevated greens were tough for me too. All the courses were very well maintained I will say though. Took a break that afternoon and sat around the pool right outside our casista. The resort was beautiful! On Sunday we played TPC Stadium in the morning and La Quinta Mtn. in the pm. TPC much harder than Mtn. That Pete Dye is a masochist! I must have been really upset when he designed Stadium. Geesh. Don't think I broke 100 that day. I was stuck in one of his green-side bunkers and literally had to hit it backwards after trying to hit it over the lip 3 times. Mtn. back nine was prettier than the front. We all had a great time on that par 3 with elevated tee in the mountains. Very picturesque! I have to say that the Nicklaus Tournament course was my favorite. I don't know if it was because it was our last day and I practiced so much or because we moved up from the blasted black to the blues, but I thought the course was pretty, practical, and in great shape. Just loved the par 5 with island green (pared it!). There's my two cents. Thanks again for the referral and coordinating everything. We'll make sure to use you again next spring! -Donald V., Madison WI La Quinta Resort and Club - Mountain Course
Loved how close the mountains were to the playing area. Some of those back yards are just gorgeous. We'll be back in the fall and will look you up. Typical Norman gem, where risk vs. reward shots come
into play quite often. Target style, most of the par 4's/5's
have quite narrow fairways and the landing areas have to be
precise. Course provided a great but fair challenge. My personal
favorite amongst the 3 courses at PGA West. Nice course. I just have such a problem with those raised greens and such short grass on the fringe. Pace of play was really good for a Saturday morning and course was in good shape! Sam C., Portland ME Gentlemen, thanks again for hooking everything up for me and the guys. Loved the Nicklaus course. You guys set me up to play the TPC Stadium course on Thursday and Nicklaus on Friday. Got my butt kicked on Thursday and then redeemed myself on Friday. Guess which course I liked better. Ugh, what a start to my weekend! Not your fault. I'll blame my slice and the fact that it snows over half the year in Maine! That Pete Dye is a killer! I don't even know how the sand stays in
place with those 20 foot steep slopes. I need another go at the TPC course.

Picture perfect environment to arrive to. The course is very challenging, second shots especially. Regrettably, the grounds crew destroyed my experience there. I observed a John Deere tractor convention during my round. Crew were actually mowing around the greens while we were taking our shots. Then they would depart and go to the next area, which was your next hole. I once counted seven vehicles parading along our cart path, pausing with engines running while I was setting up my next shot. The crew wear a safari-type beano hard-hat given that they probably don't care if they get hit. SilverRock will impress you with its size. It uses a crushed-type granite gravel in the desert areas weaving in and out of the course layout. Because these are waste areas, you can ground a club within the boundaries. With all of the plant-life and footsteps created in short order, the crews actually enter these and power rake several times a day. The City of La Quinta (owner) has stuck itself with a maintenace nightmare that will make it relatively impossible for you to enjoy a round of golf with the exceptions of weekends (when maintenance shuts down, I hope). SilverRock might approach this with a ace. When are we supposed to maintain the course type of attitude? Very simple: Other courses do it letting one enjoy a round! I would recommend that SilverRock get control of its ground crew, schedule maintenance for better times, and teach common courtesy to their staff. PS Fill out their questionnaire at the end of your round, you might win a shirt. Very challenging course, the longest I've ever played. I took my lumps but am ready to go back and try it again. Arnold Palmer did a great design job! Tahquitz Creek Legend Course
First time golfer's in the Palm Spring's area, played at Tahquitz Creek, from check-in to check-out was totally amazing! The employee's from top to bototm were the nicest people, not to mention we had one of our best golf games ever! P.S.W We love you! Best golfing value among all the courses that I played
in the desert. Great bang for your buck; much nicer than I
expected for the price that we paid. We even received a free
lunch as well :) I'll play Tahquitz Creek again next year (The
Resort course is a little nicer than the Legend course).
Tahquitz Creek Resort CourseI played the Resort Course, the newer of the two 18 hole courses here. I have also played the Legends Course many times. Of the two courses the Resort Course is definitely more enjoyable. The fairways and greens were all in immaculate condition…one of the best courses I’ve played for the price. The Golf Club at Terra Lago
This was my first trip to the desert and I really enjoyed this course. I'm not used to the desert scenary and really enjoyed the jack rabbits and cactus. Thanks for the recommendation! Very quiet, tucked away course. I liked the scoring system that they have, it was a nice touch. The old rail road cars were interesting as well.
What a beautiful course! I didn't play the South, but the North
finished up right at all the water by the clubhouse. Wish I could have
finished a little bit better, but I was too busy feeding the fish golf
balls. Really liked the course, thanks again. When did they change the name
from Landmark?
Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta
Had a great time at the Skins Game last year and I can't wait to
play there again. The course was in great shape around that time.
Fun to play where the SKINS GAME is. I've been watching this
course on TV the past couple of years and it was fun to play. In great shape
too.
Home to the Skins Game, this was an opportunity for us to play where the pros play at a fairly affordable price. Despite numerous ponds and streams, plus abundant high quality sand bunkers, we found this course to be a fair challenge. Throughout, we encountered manicured conditioning & exquisite landscaping, with native shrubbery, flower arrangements and plentiful palm trees adorning the property. This is a great golf property w/efficient & friendly service, which merits our highest recommendation! Henry B., San Diego, CA Westin Mission Hills Resort/Gary Player Signature
Hope you guys don't mind if I give another review, but you set me up here on my 2nd day. Really liked the layout. Not huge or crazy clubhouse. They mentioned they get a lot of local play and same out of towners from year to year. Next year, we're thinking about doing the Nike Clinic they have there. Anyway, had a blast. I had to let you know that I shot the best round of my life - 89. Only time I ever broke 90! Thanks again for your service, I'll call next time I'm in your neck of the woods.
